Troubleshooting Desktop Reader Installation

Before you Start: Check For a Valid Tag

Highlight a record in the main record display and click the Key RFID button located in the record toolbar, this will bring up the screen pictured.
Place the RFID tag on the block reader and click Scan RFID. Wait a couple seconds and you should hear a beep from the block reader. If the reader was able to read the pertinent EPC from the RFID tag, it should show in the RFID Tag text box.
If you exit out of this popup and then click the Scan RFID button at the top and it's still giving a "Not Found" error, the tag you are scanning is simply not associated with an asset in the system.

Ensure you install the Firefox or Chrome extension for the block reader. One the extension is installed you should see the following icon in your browser toolbar:

After you have installed the Ensync.msi package, ensure the application is listed in add/remove programs:

Troubleshooting Tips

Did you install the Ensync.msi package as administrator?

This application makes certain edits to the registry so ensure the account running the installer has the permission for registry edits.

Did the package install correctly?

Check that the registry key is defined. Use regedit to do this.

Open the Run box with the keyboard combination Windows key + r
In the Run line, enter “regedit” (without quotes)
Click “OK”
Say “Yes” to User Account Control (Windows Vista/7/8.x/10)
Check the the following registry key is defined, depending on your browser. Chrome (Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\Chrome\NativeMessagingHosts\com.simplicitysolutionsgroup.ensyncblock), Firefox (Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mozilla\NativeMessagingHosts\com.simplicitysolutionsgroup.ensyncblock)
If this key is not defined, then there was an issue during the installation of the ensync application. Go to add/remove programs, uninstall ensync, and reinstall the software as an administrator with access to edit the registry.

When you click on the Scan RFID button at the top, does the connected RFID block device beep?

If so, the plugin is sending a request to the block device, but the reader is either having trouble reading the given tag or the tag is not in the system. Ensure that the RFID tag is centered on the sensor. If there's a visible metal inlay on the RFID tag, flip the tag over to ensure the sensor is directly over the metal inlay.
